Prognostic value of minimal residual disease measured by fusion?gene transcript in infants with KMT2A ?rearranged acute lymphoblastic leukaemia treated according to the MLL?Baby protocol

چکیده
The prognostic value of minimal residual disease (MRD) measured by fusion-gene transcript (FGT) detection was investigated in 76 infants (aged ?1 year) with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) lysine methyltransferase 2A (KMT2A) rearrangements. Either at the end induction or later time-points, FGT-MRD-positivity associated poor outcome. after first consolidation high-risk block detected 46·5% extremely outcome [disease-free survival (SE) 0·06 (0·06), cumulative incidence relapse 0·91 (0·05)], which also confirmed multivariable analysis. Thus, FGT-MRD measurement a single time-point clearly identifies ALL who are curable conventional chemotherapy and those would benefit only from other treatment approaches.

Minimal residual disease in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
Risk directed treatment forms a central component of modern protocols for childhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). A review of recent studies of minimal residual disease (MRD) analysis shows that it is a powerful prognostic factor in both first line and relapse treatment. However, the value of MRD analysis is both time point and protocol specific, and the threshold for MRD detection of th...
متن کاملThe relation between end of induction minimal residual disease and different risk factors in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Background: Malignant disorder with B or T stem cell basis leads to development and continuation of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) due to aggregation of blast cells in bone marrow. The environmental, genetic, and demographic factors may influence the disease relapse. The objective of this study was to assess the relation between end of induction minimal residual disease and different risk f...
متن کاملImmunophenotypic Subtyping of Leukemic Cells from Iranian Patients with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia: Association to Disease Outcome
Background: Immunophenotypic characterization of the leukemic cells has been widely used as a tool for diagnosis, classification, stratification and prognosis of leukaemia. Objective: To investigate the immunophenotypic subtype profiles of Iranian patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and its association to disease outcome. Methods: In this study, a total of 60 Iranian patients with ...
متن کاملMinimal residual disease in acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
In patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), monitoring of minimal residual disease (MRD) offers a way to precisely assess early treatment response and detect relapse. Established methods to study MRD are flow cytometric detection of abnormal immunophenotypes, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification of antigen-receptor genes, and PCR amplification of fusion transcripts. The strong...
